Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home

Robert is a third generation funeral director at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation, and the son of Walter Ahlgrim and grandson of the founder, Arthur F. Ahlgrim. He has been a licensed funeral director for Ahlgrim & Sons since 1957. For over 35 years Robert has been a resident of Schaumburg. Throughout these years he has been an owner/funeral director of Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bradley University in 1952 and is a Certified Public Accountant. Robert is an Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. His wife is Elaine and they have four children; James Ahlgrim, LCDR. Michael Ahlgrim, USN (ret.), John Ahlgrim and Linda Spohr. They are active members of Prince of Peace Church in Schaumburg. Robert enjoys playing with his grandchildren, his HO gauge model railroad and semi retirement.

Jim is a fourth generation funeral director. He is the son of Robert and Elaine Ahlgrim, the grandson of Walter, and great grandson of Arthur. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI in 1984. Keeping with family tradition, James also attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1988 and has been a licensed funeral director with Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services ever since. His commitment to helping others goes beyond his work. He is a past president and active member of the Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates Rotary Club since 1993. He is married to Kathy with three children. Jim has lived in Schaumburg since 1973 and in Hoffman Estates since 1987. He is a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Schaumburg and his wife and family are active members of Holy Family Catholic Church in Inverness.

Elaine is the wife of Robert Ahlgrim and the mother of James, Michael and John Ahlgrim and Linda Spohr. In addition to working at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation, Elaine was very active in promoting Boy Scouts and achieved the District Award of Merit and the Distinguished Service Award for her hard work and dedication to scouting. She is an active leader in the International Order of Job’s Daughters and a long time member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She enjoys sewing and needlepoint, cooking and especially her grandchildren.

Dan has been a dedicated member of the Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation staff since 1973. He is a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science and a licensed funeral director since 1968. He and his wife, Jeri, have resided in Hoffman Estates since 1976. They have four children and many grandchildren. He was a past president and a 25 year member of the Hoffman Estates-Schaumburg Kiwanis Club. Dan has a strong commitment to serving families and it shows through his many years of dedicated service at the Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation. Dan enjoys golfing, fishing and especially time with his family.

Heidi joined Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation in 2006. After attending Purdue University she pursued her ambition to be a Funeral Director and attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science. She has been a licensed funeral director since 2001. She is currently attending National Louis University to complete her Bachelors of Science in business management. Heidi grew up in Northwest Indiana and currently lives in Chicago. In her free time she enjoys playing tennis and rollerblading on the lake front. As a dedicated member of Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, she is devoted to helping families during their time of need.

Darren joined Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation in 2007. He grew up in Geneva, Illinois and still resides there with his wife and three children. He’s a 1983 graduate of Marmion Military Academy and 1990 graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science. He is a licensed insurance producer and able to offer solutions to our families looking to prearrange funerals. He is a member of the Illinois Care Plan Counsel and the Senior Services of Illinois and is very knowledgeable in the area of Medicaid and how it affects prepaying for a funeral. When not working at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation, his passion is cooking, playing with the family dog, Dwight, and listening to Christmas music year round. Darren is dedicated to serving families and it shows through his 20 years of experience as a funeral director.

Janice has been a devoted member of the Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral & Cremation family since 2005 and a Schaumburg resident since 1976. She is an active member, and current president of the Schaumburg Community Garden Club. Prior to joining the Ahlgrim Funeral staff, Jan held several management level positions in the corporate arena in the northwest suburbs and she has the life insurance designation of FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute). She is married to Ray and they have two wonderful children. They are active members of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Schaumburg and they both serve as Mass Coordinators and Eucharistic Ministers. During her off hours from Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral & Cremation, Janice enjoys spending time with her family as well as camping, canoeing and taking vacations on their BMW motorcycle. She also enjoys home gardening and her garden club.
